1 Zane, Ebenezer
(1747-1812) Зейн, ЭбенизерПервопроходец колониальной эпохи. В 1769 основал поселение Зейнсберг [Zanesburg] на р. Огайо [ Ohio River] (ныне г. Уилинг, шт. Западная Вирджиния). Во время Войны за независимость [ Revolutionary War] в 1777 и 1782 успешно отразил атаки англичан и индейцев на форт Генри [ Fort Donelson National Battlefield]. В 1796 Конгресс принял предложение Зейна о строительстве дороги от Уилинга до Лаймстона (ныне г. Мейсвилл, шт. Кентукки) в обмен на три земельных участка размером в 1 кв. милю каждый на ее трассе. Зейном [ Zane, Ebenezer] по контракту, полученному им от Конгресса. В обмен Зейн получил от властей несколько земельных участков [Zane's grants], на которых вдоль дороги были созданы поселения Зейнсвилл [ Zanesville], Чилликоте [ Chillicothe], Ланкастер [ Lancaster] и др. Играла важную роль на раннем этапе освоения Фронтира [ Frontier].
